Online Symposium “Meeting Challenges of Today: Quality Assurance of Blended Language Learning”

On the 12th of March five representatives of the Department of Foreign Languages for Natural Sciences participated in the online symposium “Meeting Challenges of Today: Quality Assurance of blended Language Learning” organised by the Ministry of Education of Ukraine, NTU Dnipro Polytechnic (Dnipro University of Technology), Yurii Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University and Kryvyi Rih National University with the support and participation of British Council, TESOL-Ukraine, IATEFL-Ukraine and our Cambridge Assessment Club partners. The head of the Department, Olena Maniutina, members of the Department Tetiana Tonenchuk, Lilianna Makoviichuk, Olena Mudra and Svitlana Kozubska were among the presenters of the event. They shared their ideas on internationalization and growing demand for English in higher education, a Moodle-based course as a tool to support teaching an ESP class online; approaches to education and blended learning; benefits and challenges of teaching ina Web-based distance learning environment and the roles of a lecturer in an online class. Our presentations received positive feedback from about 70 participants from all over Ukraine. The hand practice part of the event included a kick-off meeting of the Share Lab, webinar and workshop with plenty of take away classroom ideas. Highly professional, amiable and enthusiastic moderators of the event Svitlana Kostrytska, Iryna Zuyenok, Nadia Holiver, facilitators Maria Isakova, Viktoria Hubkina, Oksana Khazova, Nataliia Nechai, Iryna Ivanchenko, Valeria Tikhonenko, colleagues from the Department of Foreign Languages (Dnipro University of Technology) and all presenters, speakers and participants made this Symposium unforgettable. That was a hard-working day full of great experience and an excellent opportunity to exchange distance learning best practices, new opinions and researches.
